Nepali Americans favor Trump over Biden

A recent Khasokhas survey of 253 Nepali Americans shows that 61% prefer Donald Trump as the next US president, while 39% support Joe Biden. Although the sample size is extremely small, itโ€™s still striking that a majority preferred Trump.

The recent assassination attempt is likely to increase sympathy for the candidate. Further, in recent weeks, Joe Bidenโ€™s age and mental capacity have come under increased scrutiny, which will probably help Trump even more.

๐Ÿ˜ข Nepali Drowns in Montana: Raju Jha, a 28-year-old engineer from Nepal, drowned in Lake McDonald, Glacier National Park, while swimming with friends. Despite rescue efforts, his body was recovered 30 yards from shore. Jha, who lived in Portland, moved to the US in 2019 to obtain his master's degree. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to repatriate his body to Nepal.

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Mithila Art at UN-HQ: An exhibition showcasing Mithila art to highlight climate change was held at the UN Headquarters. The exhibition is a collaboration between Nepal's Permanent Mission and the Mithila Centre USA.

โš–๏ธ Justice for Nepali Accident Victim: Gurpreet Singh, 32, was arrested and charged with running over a 79-year-old Nepali, Damodar Shrestha. After the accident, Singh fled the scene, swapped cars, and ultimately left the country. He returned to face charges and was ordered to surrender his passport.

"GHAR but in America" has begun filming in Maryland, USA. The show follows a young Nepali woman hiding her relationship from her visiting parents. Created by Bimlesh Adhikari, it features actors Arunima Lamsal and Samaroha Mainali.

๐ŸšŽ 125-Year-Old Uni: The British Education Group (TBEG), which owns The British College in Kathmandu, has acquired a 125-year-old Canadian college in Canada called the Maritime Business School. Founded in 2003 by Nepalese entrepreneurs Rajen and Mahendra Kandel, TBEF owns education establishments across the UK, UAE, and Nepal.

๐Ÿ™ Hindu-Buddhist Temple in Canada: The Hindu Buddhist Foundation of Canada, a non-profit started by Nepalis in Canada, is raising funds to buy nearby land to expand the current temple in Surrey, Canada.
